Early Life

Bhajan Kaur is from Ellenabad, Sirsa, Haryana. She completed her schooling at Nachiketan Public School in Ellenabad. Her family has been a significant source of support throughout her journey. Her father, Bhagawan Singh, is a farmer, and she has a brother and a sister.

Bhajan Kaur’s path to archery wasn’t typical. Growing up on a farm, shot put seemed a more natural fit for the young athlete. In fact, that’s exactly what she was practicing when her teacher, Parminder Sir, saw something special. Recognizing a lack of girls in archery at the under-14 level, he encouraged Bhajan to give it a try. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Reflecting on her journey, Kaur shared with The New Indian Express, “I can’t even imagine what would have happened if my father had not installed the target at home. I don’t think I am where I am without all the sacrifices my family has made.”

Selection for the 2022 Asian Games

Kaur was selected for the Indian Archery team to compete in the recurve events at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. Along with teammates Ankita Bhakat and Simranjeet Kaur, she secured a bronze medal in the Women’s team recurve event.

The Indian trio triumphed over the Vietnam team with a 6-2 victory in the bronze-medal play-off, marking a significant achievement in Kaur’s career.
